The Women's Media Center is looking for interns who are excited about our mission and available for at least 20 hours per week in our New York City offices. We recruit year-round for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Internships are unpaid, but we are happy to work with professors for credit, if applicable.
As an intern at the Women’s Media Center, you will benefit from:

Development Intern

The Development Intern assists the Development Director with special projects and day-to-day fundraising operations. The ideal candidate is highly proficient with Microsoft Office, detail-oriented, and has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Primary responsibilities include data entry (Gift Works, Blue State Digital), assisting with mailings, internet research, assisting with online and direct mail campaigns, and assisting with special events. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical requirements. Candidate should be reliable, punctual and have the ability to be both a self-starter and a team member. Familiarity with Blue State Digital and donor software is a plus.

Communications Intern

The Communications Intern assists the VIce President of Communications in day-to-day press and media relations, online advocacy, blogging. The ideal candidate is media-savvy with a solid understanding of online advocacy. Primary responsibilities include: editing news briefs, tracking media coverage of our Progressive Women’s Voices alumnae, editing media success updates, contributing to our blog, monitoring print, radio, and online media for sexist coverage, managing our social media sites, researching media requests, email blasts, and assisting with contact management. Experience integrating communications strategy with online platforms, experience with video distribution, cross-posting and Google Analytics is a plus. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, have good clerical skills, and pay excellent attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will bring creativity and excellent writing and communication skills. Primary responsibilities include: management and maintenance of the Women's Media Center's social media sites, writing for our blog, and other online outreach as assigned. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, internet savvy, detail-oriented, and have an interest in media. SheSource Intern

The SheSource Intern assists the Communications Director in the day to day management of SheSource, the WMC’s online database of women experts (please go to www.shesource.org to learn more). The intern serves as liaison to our experts, so excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor is important. Primary responsibilities include: matching experts to headlines of the day, updating SheSource expert bio’s, web editing (Contribute), researching media requests (Cision), contact management (Blue State Digital, Microsoft Outlook), compiling and distributing email blasts (Blue State Digital), and conducting online research and outreach to experts. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, and have an interest in media. In addition, candidates must be Internet savvy, have good clerical skills, and pay excellent attention to detail. You must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, and have a demonstrated commitment to team work.
